Support the One Journey U.S./Mexico Border Tour through Indiegogo!

Dear One Journey blog followers!

The journey has begun! Be a part of this life changing endeavor and support One Journey, a one-woman show going on a U.S./Mexico border road tour to inspire dialogue on border identity and politics through art!

I am requesting your generous support to help raise $10,000 that will cover the financial costs it will take to safely and successfully conduct this tour, and to video document this experience to share it with larger audiences as a One Journey Tour short documentary. Below is a video and more details about the tour, the fundraising campaign, and ways you can help. Go directly to my Indiegogo fundraising campaign here!

SUMMARY
My name is Yadira De La Riva. I am a performer and educator from the borderland of El Paso, Texas and Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua. I am currently based in New York and preparing a long anticipated U.S./Mexico performance tour of my one-woman play entitled One Journey.

One Journey is a woman’s coming of age story in El Paso, Texas and Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua dealing with the complexities of border identity by confronting the effects of immigration enforcement in this community. The piece is loosely based on personal events and interviews from members of the El Paso/Juarez border community.

I have always wanted to come back home and share this work with border residents and to also, continue collecting interviews that can expand our dialogue about the impact of borders in our nation and world today.

THANK YOU to the following venues for providing me with the opportunity to share this work in your communities and organizing to make these successful events! More bookings and dates will soon be announced!

In each space, I will be performing One Journey and facilitating Theater of the Oppressed workshops. These workshops serve as catalysts for dialogue around borderland life, identity and politics. I will also be documenting the stories of border residents, which I hope to share with larger audiences through a short One Journey Tour documentary in 2014!

WHAT WE NEED AND WHAT YOU GET

I am requesting your generous support. Whether you can donate $10 or $1,000, every gift helps make this journey a reality! Your contribution will support the safety and success of this 46 day U.S./Mexico road tour as well as the start of the theater run and screening of the One Journey Tour documentary in New York.

My Indiegogo fundraising campaign outlines my budget and goals in more detail. Please follow the link to learn more about the project and support here!

The goal is to raise $10,000 by my first road tour performance in at Teatro Vivo in Austin on Oct 4-5th, 2013! The funds we receive will allow us to continue filling up the tank and continue south to Brownsville Texas and then west until we get to California!

I'm excited to be on the road and provide everyone with updates of the tour and to give back to your contributions with incentives that make you part of this entire experience. Check out my perks on my Indiegogo fundraising page here :)

There are many ways you can support! If you can’t make a financial donation, you can still support by spreading the word and forwarding my campaign to friends and family through video or social media.

Thank you all for your time and contributions to this campaign and project! See you all soon through my One Journey U.S./Mexico Border tour and visit to a community near you!

Blessings and much gratitude!
